On November 3rd, 2020, the people of Puerto Rico held a historic referendum which asked voters "YES" or "NO" on whether they want Puerto Rico to be immediately admitted as a state of the union. An indisputable and absolute majority of voters in the territory chose YES.
Puerto Rico's colonial status means that U.S. citizens who live on the territory cannot vote for President or have real representation in Congress. This is undemocratic, unsustainable, and unacceptable.
Congress must respect the will of the people of Puerto Rico and move swiftly to pass H.R.1522, and we need your help to make sure they get the message– using this form you can easily contact your U.S. Representative in seconds.
Our request to the U.S. House of Representatives is simple: pass H.R.1522, a bipartisan bill calling on Congress to honor the results of last November's referendum by presenting a formal offer of admission to Puerto Rico, contingent upon a final ratifying and binding vote.
